    Khoiyachora Waterfall: Travel Guide to the Queen of the Falls in Bangladesh

    Known as the “queen of waterfalls,” Khoiyachora Waterfall is a breathtaking natural wonder situated in the Chattogram division’s Mirsharai upazila. For those who enjoy the outdoors and the great outdoors, it is a must-visit because of its pristine waterfalls and tranquil surroundings.

    With a roughly half-century-long history, Khoiyachora Waterfall is thought to have originated from a mountain landslide. Covering 2933.61 hectares, the area was declared a national park in 2010. It is frequently referred to as Chatal by the locals, and a 2017 ecotourism development project aims to protect its natural beauty.

    Location

    Khoiyachora lies close to Baratakia Bazar, approximately 4.2 km east of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. It can only be reached on foot following a brief ride in a CNG autorickshaw. The hill in the Khoiyachora Union, where the waterfall is situated, is the source of its name.

    How to Get There

    • To get to Baratakia Bazar from Dhaka, take a local bus to Chattogram after taking the train or bus to Mirsharai.

    What to See

    There are nine different cascades at the waterfall, each with its own unique charm. After walking through peaceful village paths, bamboo groves, and verdant surroundings, the trek concludes with a cool plunge in the pools. Camping near the waterfall provides a magical experience, especially on full moon nights.

    Best Time to Visit

    The monsoon season (June to September) is ideal for visiting, as the waterfall’s flow is most vibrant. However, be cautious of slippery paths during heavy rain.

    Accommodation

    There are no accommodations directly at the waterfall, but camping is allowed. For hotel stays, Sitakunda offers options ranging from BDT 500 to 1600. Several eateries are available along the trek, serving affordable local dishes.

    Precautions

    • Wear sturdy shoes for the trek.
    • Keep salt handy to deter leeches.
    • Carry a fully charged power bank and torchlight, as it can get dark.
    • Dispose of waste properly to protect the environment.

     

    A hidden gem, Khoiyachora Waterfall combines adventure and scenic beauty. In the peace and quiet of nature, it promises an amazing experience with the correct planning and precautions.
