In preparation for the upcoming tourism season, Bangladesh Railway (BR) will run eight special trains between Dhaka and Chattogram-Cox’sBazarfrom October 23 to 27.

“Bangladesh Railway is going to launch eight special trains on the Dhaka-Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar-Dhaka route to provide additional facilities to passengers during the upcoming tourism season,” divisional regional manager (Eastern Zone) of BR Mohammad Mohiuddin Arif told BSS today, Saturday.

He stated that the eight special trains, in addition to the two pairs of non-stop intercity trains on the route, will run for a total of five days from October 23 to October 27, with the goal of facilitating tourists.

“If more passengers visit Cox’s Bazar during the winter season, then the BR will introduce special trains again,” Mohiuddin Arif added.

According to BR sources, the first trip of the special train-1, which has 18 coaches and 518 seats, will depart Kamalapur, Dhaka’s main station, at 11 p.m. on October 23 and arrive at Cox’s Bazar station at 7:00 a.m. the following day. The last trip of the 634-seat special train will leave Dhaka on October 26.

Meanwhile, the first trip of the special train-2, which has 18 coaches and 634 seats, will depart from Cox’s Bazar station at 1:40pm on October 24 and arrive in Dhaka at 10 p.m. The special train will make its final trip from Cox’s Bazar on October 27.

The night train will have 518 seats, including seven AC berths, one first-class berth, four AC chair coaches, and a variety of regular seating options. Daytime seat capacity will increase to 634 as sleeper coaches are converted to regular seating.

Previously, the Bangladesh Railway provided special train services during the Durga Puja, when many people visited Cox’s Bazar.

The Cox’s Bazar Express, an intercity service, began operations on December 1, 2023, and the Tourist Express followed on January 1, 2024.

Both trains will stop in Chittagong, with coaches reserved for Chittagong-bound passengers.
