Bichanakandi is located in Gowainghat Upazila, about 40 kilometers away from Bangladesh’s Sylhet city. Beautiful scenery including verdant hills, glistening lakes, and an enthralling stone quarry can be found in this enchanted region. Frequently eclipsed by more well-known locations, Bichanakandi provides a peaceful retreat into the wilderness, making it an ideal location for individuals looking for both adventure and tranquility.

    Getting There

Set out from Sylhet city on your journey to Bichanakandi. Taking the most popular route gets you to Hadar Par Bazaar, where you can rent a car or ride in an auto-rickshaw, or CNG. With fares usually between Tk. 1000 and Tk. 1500, CNGs are reasonably priced for both single and family passengers. The view of the rolling hills and verdant surroundings as you drive to Hadar Par Bazaar will set the tone for your adventure.

There are several narrow boats for hire when you get to Hadar Par Bazaar. These boats are made to maneuver through the narrow canals that lead to Bichanakandi. The 20 to 25-minute boat ride is an experience in and of itself, with breathtaking views of the hillsides around you and a cool breeze that awakens your senses.

    The Journey

The view dramatically changes as the boat slides through the water. Soaring Khasi hills encircle you, their vivid greens fading into gentle blues as they get farther away. This shift in perspective produces an engrossing background that encourages reflection and admiration of the artistic qualities of nature. Only the soft sounds of rushing water and rustling leaves break the tranquil atmosphere.

    Main Attractions

The main attraction of Bichanakandi is without a doubt its waterfall, which tumbles gorgeously down rocky cliffs into a tranquil pool below. In addition to enhancing the area’s natural beauty, the waterfall provides a backdrop for a ton of photos. Relaxing by the water’s edge, exploring the smooth stones that adorn the surroundings, or just taking in the peace and quiet are all options for visitors.

The surroundings of Bichanakandi are another alluring aspect. Due to the abundance of flora and fauna in the area, there are plenty of opportunities for birdwatching and ecosystem exploration. The level, even stones make a perfect location for a picnic or just relaxing and taking in the breathtaking scenery.

    Best Time to Visit

It is thought that June through September, during the rainy season, is the ideal time to visit Bichanakandi. The water flow dramatically increases during this time, resulting in a striking and colorful scenery. The area’s natural beauty is enhanced by the lush and vibrant greenery. But, since strong rains can occasionally result in rising water levels, it’s crucial to exercise caution during this time of year.

    Amenities and Preparation

Bichanakandi is known for being relatively unspoiled, which is one of its trademarks. As a result, there aren’t as many amenities, but the setting is still lovely and tranquil. Visitors should bring snacks and drinks from Hadar Par Bazaar in advance, as Bichanakandi does not have any dining options or shops. You can enjoy a meal while taking in the breathtaking scenery with a packed picnic, which can enhance your experience. Bring water, dry snacks, and a light meal, if possible. These are necessities. Wearing hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen is also advised, particularly during the day when the sun can be very intense. Photographing breathtaking landscapes requires a camera.
